Brief Position Description:  The student will assist with the preparation of a volume of twenty-five scholarly essays.  The volume is a companion volume to Gottlob Frege’s Basic Laws of Arithmetic, transl. and ed. by P.A. Ebert and M. Rossberg (see http://today.uconn.edu/2013/02/opening-new-areas-of-scholarship-in-study-of-logician-gottlob-frege/), and is forthcoming with Oxford University Press.

Job Description:

A student in this position will assist faculty in research efforts by conducting reviews of literature and subject material specific to research topics. Research activities may include:

  • Proof-reading of the aforementioned essays
  • Checking and correcting/completing of the citations and references
  • Tracking down and/or photocopying/scanning references
  • Checking the essays in the collection for house style of the publisher and similar typesetting issues
  • Preparing the index for the collection
  • Attend training sessions and staff meetings
  • Performing miscellaneous related duties as directed
Job Requirements

Students MUST:

  • Be an undergraduate student with a Federal work-study award
  • Be able to operate a computer
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Have excellent command of written English (in particular, orthography, punctuation, and identifying of non-idiomatic phrases);
  • Submit a short report detailing research progress during each semester of participation
  • Attend two professional development events per semester (e.g., CCD workshop, department colloquium speaker, dissertation defense) and submit a brief reflection report for each
  • Present poster about the research experience at a Frontiers in Undergraduate Research exhibition or complete a short reflection paper at the conclusion of the academic year
