Job Description

Faculty Name: Steven Utke, PhD, CPA

Faculty Department: Accounting

Brief Position Description: This position involves collecting income tax data of publicly traded firms in order to determine how much tax these firms owe on their foreign earnings.

Job Description:

A student in this position will assist faculty in research efforts by conducting reviews of literature and subject material specific to research topics. Research activities may include:

  • Extract information from sources
  • Organize and classify data
  • Tabulate and analyze data
  • Perform miscellaneous duties as directed
  • Electronic searches of financial statements
Job Requirements

Students MUST:

  • Be an undergraduate student with a Federal work-study award
  • Be able to operate a computer and other research equipment
  • Have excellent communication skills
  • Submit a short report detailing research progress during each semester of participation
  • Attend two professional development events per semester (e.g., CCD workshop, department colloquium speaker, dissertation defense) and submit a brief reflection report for each
  • Present poster about the research experience at a Frontiers in Undergraduate Research exhibition or complete a short reflection paper at the conclusion of the academic year
  • Have completed ACCT 3201 and ACCT 3260
  • Have completed or be enrolled in ACCT 3202

 Preferred qualifications:

  • An interest or internship experience in the field of tax
Hourly Rate $10.50/hour
