Peer Research Ambassador - Office of Undergraduate Research General Job Description The Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) is accepting applications for the 2025-2026 Peer Research Ambassador program. Peer Research Ambassadors are current undergraduate students from a diverse range of majors who are engaged in research or creative activity. Peer Research Ambassadors provide critical support to the OUR with presentations and at events and programs throughout the academic year, and assist fellow undergraduates with navigating the research process. Overview of Responsibilities - Meet with students during 1:1 advising sessions, answer questions on OUR programs, services, and resources, and assist students interested in getting involved in research
- Co-present OUR workshops (in-person and virtual) and participate in student panels
- Co-present workshops to student groups and FYE classes, as needed
- Coordinate and co-present one workshop per semester to a student group or target student audience (i.e., residence hall, learning community, student club, etc.)
- Write 1-2 blog posts per semester for the OUR Student Research Blog
- Assist with staffing OUR events, including the fall and spring Frontiers in Undergraduate Research Poster Exhibitions, and Research Connections
- Represent the OUR at University-wide events, such as Involvement Fairs, Career Fairs, and Open Houses
- Assist the OUR with developing and maintaining an active social media presence
- Serve as a member of an informal OUR student advisory board
Peer Research Ambassadors will be required to participate in training and attend periodic meetings. Training will take place via WebEx in early August 2025. Dates and times to be determined, based on availability. Peer Research Ambassador schedules are variable. There is not a regular work schedule or a consistent number of hours of work per week. Hours per week will vary depending on OUR needs. Work schedules are flexible, accommodating class schedules and other significant commitments. Students will be asked to work evening and weekend events. Peer Research Ambassador duties will most likely be conducted in a hybrid format, with a combination of in-person and virtual activities. |
