Work-Study Research Assistant Program Faculty Name: Anna Mae Dunn Faculty Department: UConn Humanities Institute (UCHI) General Research Focus: UCHI is a multidisciplinary research institute which supports faculty, grad students and undergrads in pursuit of their research projects. We host weekly research talks, offer interdisciplinary programming, and facilitate collaborative funding inquiries. Our projects include research methodologies from the humanistic social sciences and the humanities. Student researchers would be exposed to a wide variety of research projects and would be invited to support the work that aligns with their own research interests. Brief Position Description: Students will be expected to support research talks and other programming; such support can include but is not necessarily limited to, facilitating Q & A, providing tech support (Powerpoint and Zoom); helping set up and break down the room set-up, providing brief summaries of the talks and posting them on social media. Additionally, this position will involve planning for and facilitating our grant incubators, researching materials for grant applications, and compiling bibliographies and other components. Students will learn about the ongoing research of UConn’s top researchers in the humanities. They will have the opportunity to communicate that research via social media, thus gaining social media experience. They will also be exposed to the work of grant development in the humanities, from initial ideas to final submission. A "Student Research Review Assistant - 205" will assist faculty in research effort by conducting review of literature and subject material specific to research topics. A student in this position will compile a list of references for grant applications, distill interdisciplinary lectures for public access via social media, and proofread texts for publicity, social media and grant submissions. |
