Job Description |
The Programming Specialist is responsible for program/event planning and workshop development/facilitation relevant to gender equity, and building a committee of volunteers to implement programs and initiatives that are developed throughout the academic year. The Women's Center is an exciting and energy-filled place reflected in the community of people, from a variety of backgrounds, disciplines, and responsibilities, who choose the Center as a place on campus to invest their time and energy. We are committed to strengthening and enhancing the experiences and learning of students, staff and faculty, as well as developing, supporting and empowering students with a focus on gender equity, centering the experiences of women and gender-expansive people; and celebrating all of the ways gender is lived and expressed. Positions at the Women’s Center are designed to assist students with career readiness by building their skills and experiences in the NACE identified competencies of Career & Self Development, Communication, Critical Thinking, Equity & Inclusion, Leadership, Professionalism, and Teamwork. This position works closely with a full time staff person and will be responsible for designing programming initiatives and events, engaging volunteers at meetings; planning discussion topics and/or other activities; and facilitating discussion on specific content areas. Additionally, the staff will be expected to participate in weekly supervision/debrief meetings, work cooperatively and collaboratively with their co-workers, deliver and receive constructive feedback, and routinely evaluate the status of their own professional development. All staff must complete mandatory training during the week before classes begin August 18-August 22nd, as a way to enhance content proficiency, develop effective facilitation techniques, and foster open communication and trust with co-workers within the Center.

All students are responsible for: Serving as Women’s Center receptionist, answering phones, directing calls, taking messages and welcoming visitors.
